The Photo Challenge shall be somewhere else

Since I am running out of space at blog.com for the 30 day photo challenge, I am setting up a blog for that at Innercity Sumo. I'll still stick up occasional photos here but most stuff will be at Innercity Sumo.

Day 3 - Stockwell

Early start for me today. I had to get up at the somewhat hideous time of 8.30 in the morning to go and play touch rugby in London. It brought back memories of being run around by a Kiwi from RotoVegas, and breathing like an emphysematous 90 year old. The plan is to get fit and stop getting fat.

My photo of the day today comes from a station on the way to where I go to play touch rugby. Stockwell is now infamous amongst Londoners for what happened on the 22nd July. Armed police shot a suspected suicide bomber who they thought had been involved in the second round of bombings (which failed) on the 21st. He was followed onto the train at Stockwell Station, restrained and shot seven times in the head and once in the shoulder.

The next day it was announced that the man was Jean Charles de Menenez, a 27 year old Brazilian who had not been associated with the bombings. There is a memorial to him outside Stockwell Station. There is more info at Wikipedia as well as this Guardian article called "The Terrorist Who Wasn't".

The bigger pic is at flickr. Don't worry this is going to be my last photo of Underground station exteriors. Probably.

Day 2 - Housebound

It's Day 2 of the photo a day. I haven't actually left the house today. I still havent managed to break my record of 10 (yes that's ten) days without leaving the house. Not because I'm an agrophobe though. Its just i don't like the open spaces. Anyway, here is a selfportrait. As you can see I'm regrowing my beard.

See the bigger pic here. The map below is where people are visiting this site from. If you click here you can see it in more detail. I have finally solved the riddle of who is from the top of the South Island. Kaylie, take a bow.

The 30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 1

This rut of unemployability and revision that I have entered has meant that I have stopped taking as many pics as I used to. So I have joined the a photo a day challenge, which was originally started by someone called Stephanie. Quite a few people have started it (well about 18). If you fancy it you can even join the flickr group. If you like the photo (or even if you don't) leave a comment.

This photo was taken after me and some mates went to the TFL pub quiz cricket club fundraiser. We stormed in at a rather glorious 5th. Out of 6 teams. This is my local station, and it was frikkin freezing when I took this. It had just started to snow. Click here to go to my flickr account to see the bigger version.

Its like the drunk version of the wheel

The submarine

The syringe

The Monorail

All have been invented by those Iorish fellas. Add another one on that list. The Guinness Surger.

You stick in a pint of guinness, plug in the surger and press the button. Some magic pulsation stuff makes the head. It looks amazing (check out the video at the Guinness website). Just in time for Paddy's Day.

Although I'm still to be convinced about drunk people, electricity and booze being in close proximity. But clearly Tesco's and Guinness know what they're doing.

And I managed all of that without referring to leprechauns, drunk ruddy faced stereotypes or flour-hurling crazy girls. Oh bollox.

Bacteria don't do politics and epidemics don't go by the book!

Wise words indeed by Quincy M.D. (my MRCP revision is going well as you can see). Even if he then proceeded to storm a hijacked plane. What a man, all pathologists should be part grouchy old man (or woman, i'm not a sexist) and part commando.

Have you ever thought:

"All this modern comedy is rubbish. I prefer the laughs you get from those TV shows where they show you lots of ads from around the world. They're so funny. I like the french ones. They have boobs in."

Well this ad doesn't have boobs in. It is unfortunately for a product called Ayds (say it. Now do you get it?) And it was a real product, although I'm not sure if they still make it. Click on the play for the comedy.

If only you knew the Power of the Dark Side

It would appear that I have sinned. My new-found powers went to my head and I abused them.

I fell to the Darkside. I did a Simeon. i ran with it and smeared the reputation of an innocent individual who had the bad luck to meet me. So to you Mr Random Mongrel Mob member who we met in the karaoke bar, my heartfelt apologies.

And to you Punch after what you said in that email:

"Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well. You have controlled your fear.
Now, release your anger. Only your hatred can destroy me."
